Hello there and a very big welcome to you.
I have been involved in the exciting business of converting materials and making items of fun and beauty for over thirty years. I started as a young guy on the factory floor, learning my trade as an apprentice, and it seems I have been learning and making things ever since. There is just something wonderful and satisfying about creating keepsakes of meaning and beauty and, what was just a job at the time, became a fun packed hobby. Of course as with everything things didn’t just happen overnight, but a moment of change really came when I was working for a successful company who wanted to develop new products via a range of molding and casting processes.
Here I learned many of the priceless tips and tricks of the casting, mold making and finishing industry – I got to learn all the clever ideas of production, the techniques people don’t always tell you about and the ‘black art’ knowledge only passed down through the trade. I was really lucky because I met many talented suppliers, competitors, designers and customers – I got to go and see their factories and understand how they did what they did and, more importantly, talk to the people actually doing it – sharing ideas and techniques – it was really quite an eye opener to learn how simple it was to create very expensive looking, complicated items of fun and beauty – providing you know how to.
I really enjoy my life as I get the opportunity to pursue a hobby which provides me with many benefits, I get a chance to meet and teach people, of all ages, new things which make big differences to their lives, it allows them to express themselves, make fun and create unique products to keep for ever - and I work to provide new learning experiences and challenges for children of all ages giving them valuable skills for the future both at school and at home - so my payback comes in many ways.
Most of all, I have been involved in an exciting industry of creating and making things of fun and beauty and helped many people create keepsakes and treasures from which they have gained great pleasure and memories - my family and I have benefited enormously from this and my single aim, if you will let me, is to teach you to benefit too.
